Water & BTU Meters: Flow and Energy Measurement for HVAC and Process Systems

Water and BTU metering provides critical visibility into HVAC system performance, hydronic loop efficiency, and water consumption across commercial and industrial facilities. Emergent Metering carries ultrasonic, electromagnetic, and thermal energy meters for all pipe sizes and applications.

Our water and BTU meter lineup includes portable ultrasonic clamp-on meters for temporary measurement, inline ultrasonic submeters for permanent installation, and thermal energy (BTU) meters for chilled water and hot water heat transfer measurement. All meters support Modbus RTU, BACnet IP, pulse output, and M-Bus communication protocols.

Water Metering Applications

Water submetering is used for tenant billing in multi-tenant buildings, leak detection on large campuses, irrigation monitoring, process water tracking in manufacturing, and cooling tower makeup water measurement. The EES-101 Ultrasonic Water SubMeter handles pipe sizes from 1 inch to 48 inches. The EES-501 portable handheld model allows temporary measurement without system interruption.

BTU and Thermal Energy Metering

BTU meters measure heat transfer in hydronic systems by combining flow measurement with supply and return temperature sensing. This tracks energy consumed by HVAC air handlers, heat exchangers, chilled beams, and fan coil units. BTU metering supports LEED certification, ASHRAE 90.1 compliance, and tenant billing in shared HVAC systems. The EES-301 Ultrasonic Energy (BTU) Meter provides accurate thermal energy measurement for chilled and hot water applications.

Integration and Analytics

Water and BTU meter data integrates with the Emergent Energy Solutions cloud analytics platform for real-time dashboards, automated reporting, anomaly detection, and tenant billing. Our team provides full application engineering, installation support, and communication protocol configuration for all water and BTU metering projects.
